It is Friday 18th August 2017, which is Summer Vacation Week 12

Welcome to First Year Matters

Welcome to the Computer Science, Software Engineering, Web Development and MIT honours degree courses at Salford University, or to the associated MSc courses.

"First Year Matters" started life as a portal specifically for supporting first year students on Computer Science related courses through their transition from Further Education to Higher Education. It is now a general purpose portal for all students on these courses.

This page provides access to downloadable information, such as timetables, semester dates, assessment schedules, the student handbook, lecturer contact details.

First Year Matters is maintained by Andrew Young. Contact him with any feedback, suggestions or anything else you want to say.

For those of you who have resits to do, I am collating resit information at This includes some generic advice about resits, and some specific information on each module.

If you are resitting, you are advised to stay in contact with your programme leader and with the relevant module tutors so that they know that you are resitting, and so that you know when they are available
